Keep Your Child’s Smile Healthy With Bryant, AR Pediatric DentistryDoctor David Ouellette on pediatric dentistry Read Transcript
We do see lots of children, we enjoy seeing and treating children. There's different philosophies on how to restore children's teeth, and we have a very conservative philosophy: that most of the time, we can restore a child's teeth without them having to have a bunch of silver caps placed on them. Which parents hate, the kids hate, and it's something that we can correct without having to do that.
All of us here, we have had our own kids, so we know how to treat kids. And we treat them very well. It's very rewarding to see these children that maybe the first time or two they might be a little bit reluctant. But then after that, they just jump out of the car in the parking lot and run in, and hop in the dental chair. Because we really, we like seeing children. And it's very rewarding to see them.
The American Dental Association recommends that children visit the dentist for the first time after their first tooth comes through or before their first birthday. At David L. Ouellette, DDS, PA, we understand that a child’s oral health plays a large role in their overall health. That’s why we emphasize the need to get your child started early with proper pediatric dentistry. Dr. Ouellette’s gentle care will do the following:

Know What to Expect
Your child’s first visit with David L. Ouellette, DDS, PA will be more of a “happy” visit. Depending on their age, we will give them a short tour of our office and show them some of the tools we use to take care of smiles. Kids love that we’re located in an old house!
If your child is toddler-aged, we will take a brief look in their mouth and possibly count their teeth. When they are a little older, Dr. Ouellette will perform a complete dental exam to check for cavities and gum disease, including use of the DIAGNOdent cavity detection system. We will also clean their teeth to get rid of plaque and tartar. Around the age of 6 or 7, we will begin looking for any early signs of orthodontic problems.
